Top TV Presenter to Host Top Choir Kent 2012
Rob Smith, the co-presenter of the BBC’s daily programme, South East Today, is to compere the final of Top Choir Kent 2011 organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury on Saturday 31 March 2012 at the Shirley Hall in Canterbury.

Rob, who's no stranger to supporting Rotary activities, says he is looking forward to the event. He said: “Top Choir Kent provides a wonderful platform for celebrating community singing in Kent and it’s a great opportunity to hear such a wide range of musical styles in one place at the same time.” He continued: “I’m looking forward to being part of this special event which in a short space of time has become an important part of the choral fabric of the county.”

There's still time to enter Top Choir Kent 2012. It's open to amateur choirs of all ages based in Kent, the Medway Authority and the London Boroughs of "Old Kent". Choirs are encouraged to get their entries in well before the deadline of 31st January 2012 to stand a better chance of being heard on the radio. The winners will receive the Brett Top Choir Kent Trophy, as well as being given a unique opportunity to showcase their talents at the Canterbury Festival in October 2012. Additionally each of the eight finalists will receive a cash prize.
Top Choir Kent 2012 features two major innovations to reflect the desire of the organisers to promote the event - not just as a competition - but also a festival for singing in Kent:
- Choirs will now be permitted to have piano accompaniment if they wish
- The entry fee has been dropped

Top Choir Kent is organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury and any surplus will go to Rotary charities at home and abroad.
