Top Choir Kent Patron

Lord Carey

The former Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rt Rev and Rt Hon. Lord Carey of Clifton, is Patron of Top Choir Kent. His Lordship readily accepted the invitation after hearing about the success of the inaugural competition.

Lord Carey said of Top Choir Kent: “I salute this great initiative of the Canterbury Rotary Club!” He continued: “The 2015 Gala Concert was absolutely outstanding and I am delighted to be invited to be Patron again for the 2016 Festival.” The former Archbishop added: “There is nothing quite like singing together to create harmony in friendship and fun - to say nothing of the actual joy of bringing something beautiful out of working together.”

Lord Carey’s gracious patronage has been welcomed by the organisers of Top Choir Kent. The President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Canterbury, Peter Hermitage, said: “Lord Carey has shown tremendous support for our club over many years. In recognition of this the club made him an Honorary Member for Life in 2008.” He added: “Becoming Patron of Top Choir Kent is another fine example of his Lordship’s wonderful support for our club.”
